"Rattle can" Resolian...trying for aTriolian vibe

Post by Jason Dumont »

Hi folks, I have a Republic parlor size Resolian guitar and I wasn't loving the antiqued brass finish that was on it. I always liked Triolians so.....

I sanded the body down to the metal and then sprayed it with Rustolian primer, lightly sanded the primer then I hit it with Rustolian cream colored enamel spray paint and then hit it with a nice yellow enamel from Rustolian. 3 coats of both colors.
Then I drew a stenceil, cut it out and hit it with black and then the orange sun. All done with spray cans from Home Depot. Now I have pro spray gear but I just wanted to experiment and not make this little project last forever. I did the whole thing in a week end. Oh yeah I of course "reliced" it. Going from pics I have from a friends guitar.
It's not the "Mona Lisa" but it looks better hanging on my wall this way ( I think anyway)
The whole project ran me $12.99!

Cans of spray paint: $12.99
Jason's ability to use them: Priceless

Very cool job, Jason. I'm sure there are some National and National-style guitar lovers out there who'd love to see this.

Very nice!
I made myself a Walnut Sunburst Triolian copy about 10 years ago. It's weathered to a very nice patina over the years.

Thanks guys!
Definately a SMALL body! Sounds good though, nice and brash. Bit "trashy" sounding--in my hands anyway
I like that :D
