Post by Kenny Martin »

I am getting trashed by some dude on youtube about my playin so i thought i would get you guys opinion!
His youtube site is HOTLICKS73 but he has no post! Here's what he says that i copied from youtube:

"hotlicks73 has replied to your comment on Steel guitar Alan Jackson lead.:

Dude you get slamed because of the crap you play. It Sucks!.. You say you copy Tommy White and Buck Reid?.. Wow if I was them I would be insulted because your "speed Picking" doesn't reflect anything that would sound like these two players.
You can reply back by visiting the comments page."

"hotlicks73 has made a comment on Working Man Blues Steel:

LOL!.. What so you can ask me to show you every lick I know?..LOL!... Trust me you couldn't play them. Your're right hand isn't that advanced!.. Maybe in another 10 years of you woodshedding then come back and we will talk. I will give you hint how to get better at your "speed picking".. There is a guy named Paul Franklin."

SO IS HE RIGHT????

Hot Licks on U-Tube

Post by Roger Dillingham »

Kenny,
I don't think so!! I have watched some of your vids and I have been nothing but impressed by the quality of your pickin'! I wouldn't be concerned by some nitwit who thinks he can rattle you by making assinine accusations concerning your pickin' prowess versus some nationally known PSG artists. The speed and quality is there with you, my friend. Let him have his say, it isn't worth it. Keep on steelin', your PSG buddy,
Roger Dillingham :)

I'm guessing that this 455 knows where your goat is tied, and he's just yankin' on that chain.

His saying "What so you can ask me to show you every lick I know?..LOL!... Trust me you couldn't play them."
is typical of talentless internet braggarts who can only justify their own pitiful existence by running someone else down.

If he really had any chops, he'd show them.
Ignore him. He's just a jerk.

Kenny,
I have not seen Your clips on U tube and it would make no difference whether You were a monster picker or a rank beginner.
Anyone who comments and hides behind a false name does not have the balls to show His face, He has the problem, not You!
I would'nt worry about comments like His.

Thanks guys but i can't say that it didn't make me re-visit my clips and see! Yes, some are sloppy because i do them out of the blue with no set way to play them. I do that because its how i work to improve!
Maybe i should stop posting them! :\

I will never be called by an artist at my age to hit the road from Nashville and never do i think i'm a professional!

If, as he says, i offended Tommy White and Buck Reid, i apologize for that because along with Lloyd Green these guys are my hero's!

Can't lie and say it doesn't bother me but i'll just get to work harder on what i do!

Agreed, It's a Troll Baiting You

Post by Joey Ace »

You already fed the Troll by posting his comments here. They won't go away if you keep feeding them.

Just remove the comments and don't give it a second thought.

A good player would have never made comments like that.

on second thought...
There might be a very small percentage of good players who are jerks, but they wouldn't know how to post anyway...

Kenny,

You asked for it and I am going to give it to you.

I love your video's. I would be happy to have half your speed. Seriously the bottom line is what comes out of the speakers and your playing is great to my ears.

Regards,

:D

Kenny, be careful with that Roquefort, you may have an issue by differentiating on who cut the cheese.

kenny..i think your main weakness is continually asking for people to tell you what they think. you did this for a long time and then you disappeared...and now you're back doing the same thing. i think you should worry about it less. my opinion is that you play very well...you obviously care and work at it alot. your speed picking (obviously a main concern of yours) could stand some cleaning up. good ideas and speed, but need greater care to pick every note distinctly, cleanly, evenly. don't ask me to post my playing...you're probably better, but i'm not constantly asking for attention either.

Actually yes and no Chris!
I do post to bounce them off you guys but i don't post for attention!

Look, i had my time through the late 70's until the late 90's to work on attention but after that its about trying to keep from getting to old to fast and losing it all. Yep, the speed is sloppy when its off the cuff, i agree!

This post was about my friends i have on here that help me out when i need them! In this case i'm getting beat up so i ask for some big brothers to weigh in!

Hey by the way, i'm not worried that Nashville is going to call me because they are dying for me to come play! :P

Thanks for the honesty Chris! Good to hear from you again! ;-)

Well hey there Mr. Sexton!!

My two buddies, Greg and Dick!!

I can always count on you guys to hit me over the head! Man i had to block the dude trashing me on youtube! He was going off on every clip i had!

Maybe i dated his sister or something in the past! That always seems to come back to haunt me!

He said Tommy White and Buck Reid would be insulted if they heard me try to play their licks! Sorry for that!

I can't listen to extended periods of speed picking.
It quickly grates, much like extended drum solos.

I'm sorry, but this ole stick in the mud steel player likes nothing better than good ole slow, melodic, pedal steel

Stan described the guy well:
internet braggarts who can only justify their own pitiful existence
Reminds me of Brad Paisley's song "On-Line".
