Old Texas Two step on Dobro.
I bought a Resonator Guitar on that auction site a couple of weeks ago, this is the first time I have ever played one. It was secondhand and the previous owner was using it as a slide guitar, so the first thing I had to do was make a Nut riser. Here it is with the original strings of unknown origin, it is a SX Guitar which I understand sells quite cheap, no amplification, just the acoustic sound recorded with my Zoom H2, no effects added.

I would be interested to hear what other Dobro players think of this Instrument.

Hi James....I'm not a Dobro player but a pedal steel player who owns an original Match/bro for my Dobro sounds. You've got a very nice full sound there, excellent!! Are you still building the Springfield steels, and if so did you ever make a changer where the pull changes were adjusted from the End plate as opposed to under the guitar? I remember seeing you at a stand at the Wembley festival many years ago.

Micky,
Nice to hear from you, I don't build Steel Guitars any more, I just make the odd Replica Lap Steel for my own enjoyment. I never made a Steel which was adjusted from the end plate, all were adjusted from underneath.
There are photos from that 1979 show at wembly on this Forum provided by Basil, showing Slim Pickins, me, and Basil himself. His Emmons got stolen and I gave him a Twin Neck.
James.
