Line selector. Need advice.

I usually play both a regular guitar and a pedal steel when I'm out playing gigs. I'm using the same amp for both, so I need some sort of line selector so I don't have to switch the cable every time i change instrument. The only one I know of is the Boss Line Selector. Do any of you have any experience with this pedal, or could you recommend some other possiblities? It needs to have two level knobs, since I need to set the volume louder for the steel. Any suggestions?...

I've used the Boss for years. Works very well, and has a lot of other uses/functions too.

I believe most A/B boxes don't have volume knobs, which I need in this case.

John, does your Boss "eat" some of your tone? I'm a bit hesitant to Boss pedals, as I think they sometimes do that. Have you noticed this?

I haven't noticed that. But I usually use it as a Loop Selector, with my Tele. I use a two channel amp, a Twin, so I don't need it as an A/B box. There are a lot of A/B selectors on the market. I like the Boss cuz it has so many other uses. And,,, it has the two volume controls.

Seconding John's comments. The LS-2 will do the job you need done, but it's really a Swiss Army knife of routing capabilities; it'll do the next job you're not even thinking of yet! I had one for years, sold it, regretted it, and bought a replacement. BTW, there is usually a pretty good supply of these on eBay.

Regarding tone, there are level adjustments for both paths. A little time adjusting the unit with your particular setup will go a long way.
