I have seen guys playing in just about everything. The big lace up work shoes with thick soles did not seem to bother Jack Matthews. I wish I could play with what I have to have.

I like walkers with velcro. The rubber soles are soft enough to adequately feel the pedals; so they are like sneakers in that respect. I pull the velcro tight for playing, so the shoe rocks with my foot. The rest of the time I can loosen up the velcro so my bunions are comfortable. The black ones look better than sneakers, if a dressier appearance is a concern. Boots just don't work for me, and neither does any kind of shoe that is so loose the shoe doesn't rock with my foot. Although, I have to say that the more experienced I become, the less the footwear matters.

I forced my self years ago to play with dress shoes or a cowboy boot with a bit of a round toe. I just can't use a sharp pointed boot as my foot doesn't seem to contact the pedals square enough. I suppose I should have forced myself with different footware earlier and my playing would be much better?? :D

These desert boots are the only footware I use when
playing steel as I can feel the pedals quite nicely
through the soles probably due to the fact they are
quite a few years old. I don't know what will happen when they give up the ghost as they are unobtainable here. :) :\
