New Video - How'd Ya Do - Terry Miller - HSGA Joliet 2008

Post by Gerald Ross »

I had a great time at the Aloha International convention this past weekend.

I really wish more forumites would attend non-pedal steel conventions. They are a lot of fun, you hear great players, you make new friends, you see old friends, you learn new songs, you get new musical ideas.

I was going through my camera and found this clip from last October's HSGA Joliet convention. It's Terry Miller playing How'd Ya Do during the Saturday night cocktail hour - pre luau. I'm on guitar, Paul Kim is on uke and Steve Cheney is on bass.

Come on folks - we want to see you at the HSGA Joliet show this coming October 8-10, 2009. Go to HSGA Joliet 2009! to register.

You can hear forumite Chris Kennison's voice on the clip - he was the cameraman.

...decent Gerald.
Tone of the steel guitar a bit "bassy", but execution very good.

I always look forward to anything by Terry Miller. Technically, he really has it going on and is smooth as butter. His approach to some of the standards are especially tasty:

Nice Cinema Verite work by Chris!

The Joliet HSGA I attended was a real joy and the folks were all super friendly. And the playing speaks for itself--some very humble and talented players.

What else do you have lost in the camera Gerald?

just listened to Terry play "How do you do" and it sounds ok but the audio is not up to standard, he sounds much much better if you were to attend the Convention and hear him live..Gerald is right everyone has a great time in Oct. and you get to see and hear a lot of great players from all over the U. S. and Canada. even Japan. Gene McGowan

As Gene says, the sound quality is not up to par because the open microphone is picking up all of the surrounding extraneous noise.

Terry is an excellent player, and to hear the quality of his playing it is better to get his CD.
I believe that Terry is donating all of the money paid for his CD's to the Hawaiian Steel Guitar Assn.
He is not in it for the money, but the money is going to support some of the causes of HSGA.

Terry will be playing at the upcoming Joliet Convention in October.

Do you want to play your steel guitar and get some experience and exposure? Or do you want to hear good steel guitar playing and enjoy meeting new friends or seeing people who contribute on the SG Forum and getting better acquainted? Sign up for the convention.

Aloha, :)
