Anyone who can trade fours with Vince is in the top echelon of steel guitarists. Who ever he turns out to be, he has surely payed his dues !! All the camera man did was show his understanding of the task at hand which was....
That was just before Vince hired John Hughey; Vince didn't really have a steady band at the time, just a pool of players that he used...
Joe McGuffie (who'd played steel with Dolly for years) played with Vince some back then, as did Rusty Young, Paul Franklin and Al Perkins among others (I played quite a few gigs with Vince that year myself...).
Anyway, I'm sure that's Joe on steel, and I know that's Willie Weeks on bass and Tony King on guitar; probably Martin Parker on drums though it's hard to see...
Hi Paul....yes i totally agree, the camera man was totally C**P ....obviously can't tell the difference between a guitar and steel, and obviously no brain in his skull, because sometimes Vince stopped playing and he still panned on him while the steel was playing amazing licks....Oh well!!!
And the same low grade camera man as in the other clip. Had to be the same one....I don't think two camera men can be that stupid...excuse me. I mean untrained.
