For fans of Jean Guy I found this clip of him backing up Denise Murray on the t.v. show 'Pour L'amour du Country'.

Jean Guy does seem to favor the Sho~Buds. According to the Worldwide Steel Guitarists Directory he has, or had six Sho~Buds, and that is old info so he may have more than that now. He also shows up playing a Fessenden at times. The guy is definitely one of my favorite players and I think it would be fun to see him take the stage at some of the steel conventions and gain wider recognition for his ability. He seems to be known mostly in Quebec and New Brunswick but he could hold his own anywhere IMO.

Bill Ask Jean Guy the story on his LDG sometime if you talk with him. It was quite a story

Bill, I agree. Jean Guy is one of the best. I only wish he will show up here in London Ontario some day...

Pete, why don't you email me the LDG story? I doubt if I'll ever get to hear it from Jean Guy, I'm too far out in the sticks here. Patrick Norman is going to be in town July 18th, but just to do two numbers in a multi-artist show so I doubt Jean Guy will be with him for that event.
Bent, I believe Jean Guy does some shows in Ontario with Patrick Norman, but maybe not in London.

Pat, I hadn't heard Denise Murray before but she has a really nice voice and style. She's easy on the eyes too.
As a side note, do you know if a guy by the name of Jean Luc Boudreau from the Moncton area is still playing steel around New Brunswick? He played some with the band Sweet Temptation and he was the guy I bought my first old Sho~Bud from. I remember that he had sort of depanneur with a small music store in the basement. ...that was nearly twenty years ago though.

Bill,
I haven't seen Jean-Luc for long time but he still has his music store and it's alot bigger then it was 20 years ago, after he played with sweet temptation he went on to play with the band called "mechant maqueraux" for a couple of years but i don't know what he's doin' theses days. :)

here's the link of his music storehttp://www.highomusic.com/

Higho Music! That's the place alright. Thanks Pat. Seems like people who really want to play steel guitar find ways to get them no matter where they live. It's easy to find one now with the Internet but in 1990 I had no clue where to buy one and a really small budget. Steve Smith was through here with Carol Baker that year and he knew about the old Sho~Bud Jean Luc had for sale and gave me his number. I drove eight hours to see it and brought it back. A few years ago I shipped that Sho~Bud to Baffin Island. ....I guess I've strayed off topic a bit here. I'll keep posting any Jean Guy Grenier videos I find and hope everyone will do the same.
