Dennis,
My Rittenberry has the BL 705 on it and I really like the tone. I am using this set up as far as strings go:
George L's Stainless
13P,15P,11P,14P,17P,20P,26W,30W,34W,36W
I haven't had any problems so far. |

I failed to mention this; I have two BL 710's on my Franklin. I use the same String setup as my Rittenberry and again, I am not having any problems with either. |

Dennis, I also have a 705 on my Rittenberry. I had to lower mine a little on my bass strings because of the way I rest my palm. I didn't noticed any difference in tone or quality.

| I tried installing a 705 on my LeGrande lll and there is no room for adjustment. With the pickup adjusted all the way down there is the thickness of an American quarter between the strings and pickup. I do like the 705 pickup but it will not work in the Legrande lll. Any suggestions on pickups that sound as good as the 705 and fit a LeGrande lll? |

Dennis, I have 705's on my LeGrande III but I made bases for the pickups from thin aluminum which gave me extra distance between the strings and PUs.

I have the same problem - not enough distance between the pickup and strings - mounting a 705 on my SKH Legrande. Jerry, that's a good solution, guess I need to try that. I like at least two quarters distance, and three is fine - these are very hot pickups.
Now that I'm back from Tennessee, I'm also going to try a pair of Lawrence 910 pickups on that Legrande. Of course, another possible solution is to use a good set of Emmons or Truetone single-coil pickups wound to around 17.5K or 18K Ohms - if the noise isn't a problem. |

Dave, if you make the aluminum base plates I suggest that you make them just long enough to accept the mounting holes. That way the base plate will clear the pillar block mounts that extend into the pickup cavity and you will gain another 1/16" (thickness of the aluminum.
