Steve
The key was you kept it simple and played some nice harmonics in the fills.
I thought you did a fine job.
I've been there, done that as many of us have.
Keep it up.

Thanks! glad to hear. I think I only hear mistakes when I listen to my own playing. popping up on youtube terrifies me...

I only saw one spot where you went to the wrong fret, but then you quickly recovered and it was only one or two frets further so it looked like you meant to do it.

I think it sounded fantastic. That guy was lucky to have you playing. Of course I'm biased, but without the pedal steel it is just another band as far as I'm concerned.

I always say that those who know how to play will understand that you make a mistake and those who don't know how to play won't notice anyway. And those who make mention of our mistakes are jerks!

We are our own worst critics.

Great job! :D

Thanks Brian. Glad to hear this. To me those little slips are epic sounding, I know he was happy with it, so hopefully he will keep hiring me in.

I just watched it again. I actually love the song and the steel parts. What song is that? The singer's voice is pretty good too.

I have been looking for someone around here to play steel with (once I get good) and every time they advertise - they put a myspace link - and I go check out their voice and man most are horrific. I think if you got a guy who can sing decent that is a blessing.

Its an original he wrote called long fall . He is getting better and better. He was trying to do a Dave Mathews things both with his guitar and voice. I think I finally have him talked out of it. Turns out he has a great voice hidden under all the schtick he was trying. I think a female backup voice would tie his songs together real well.

I do the same thing with craigslist and myspace. A lot of bad bad bad singers that think the steel will help them. I usually take anyone who can pay me, but Ive had some shows so bad that I am starting to worry about getting associated with them. I dont want it to backfire on me to where I cant get any good gigs because people think I am as bad as the bands I play with.

It has made me better having challenges thrown at me every week.
Good luck Brian and have fun with it!
