Buddy Emmons on YouTube
A couple cuts from John Phillips' solo record "Wolf King of L.A." with Buddy Emmons and his classic 1970 Blade tone.

Ah yes the name now comes out from the canyons of my memory I certainly have listened to him , I must say I also like his solo stuff a lot.
I was so immersed in grass roots country that I havn't looked outside that box much.
Were there any other artists that Buddy recorded with that wern't strictly country ?
Pete Drake went in the Bob Dylan,Joan Byez,George harrison direction but I wasn't aware that Mr E did a lot of this.
Here in the UK from the 50s- 90s we were starved of most of the great releases you had , we got lots of Jim Reeves, Tammy wynette and Don Williams LPs by the truck load but we had to really dig for other stuff and I tried to import records not released here.
Thanks to this forum, youtube and internet shopping the rest of the world can now get some of what you have had in the U.S.for ever.
Having seen on youtube what you actually did have Im even more envious now than i was back then 'cos you had even more than I imagined.

Buddy Emmons recorded with The Carpenters, Henry Mancini, Judy Collins, John Sebastian, Ray Charles, Linda Ronstadt, Seals and Crofts, and many other more "pop" oriented artists during his L.A. years, '68 through '74 I believe. You can look up a partial listing of his credits here:

Buddy
My twins gave me a "Linda Ronstadt, the capitol years" cd...Her 4 solo albums not including "Don't Cry Now'" which was on Arista? records.....Most of her best material, with Buddy's Blade on many cuts and Sneaky Pete on most of the others! I learned (to my surprise) the well known solo to "silver threads and golden needles" was originally by Red Rhodes on Fuzz steel,, later covered by Eddie Black???...I just turned 59 and can't remember who played on radio cut....Buddy's solos are so perfect I get goosebumps hearing them,still....JS

If ever a midrange was perfect on a steel, it was on Buddy's during that time. He has that exact same zingy tone on Gram Parson's version of "That's All it Took", from '72.
