Here's the steels from the meeting minus 1

The great playing some great guitars and some great information from Jody Cameron on playing the blues.
It's refreshing to hear someone that can talk the theory behind what they play instead of saying "cause it sounds good" Jody's point of finding the root in all the positions to have a place to fall on is great advice for players of all levels.

You can still hear the steel loud and clear.
Jody's playing through a Peavey Vegas 400 amp.

Jody, Billy, All,

Thanks for the great meeting! It was only my second time to attend, and I'm still wound up! I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and listening to the versatility of Jody Cameron. Also, I didn't know Billy Phelps could sing like that. We got to hear some great chording from Ora Oubre on his hand-made 12 string with the A6th tuning. I also enjoyed the playing of David Jones, Jim Cross, and of course, Jody Sanders. I'm already looking forward to the next meeting.

PS: Thanks for the "home-made" cookies, Joe. Also, good seeing you, Jack!

Randy

I got back from the L'Auberge casino in Lake Charles Sunday and I found something new, it's called the lost and found department! "I lost my money and the casino found it!" That's the bottom line!!!!
It looks like everybody had a great time Sunday in Katy; new players and great pickin'. Sorry I missed it!
And my friend Jody C; playing better than ever, just won't let me catch up with him. (call me JC)
My personal thanks to Billy, Patty, Jody S and the band guys for keeping it going.
Hope to see all in June..........

Thanks to Jody S, Patty and Billy, and Jody Cameron. Wow...he is great and those pickers from Victoria! Randy Boyd and John Sullivan, good guys. Jody Camerons wife Darla sang fantastic, and Billy Phelps surprised several of us with his song that was great. All the players were great, Ora is quite a great guy and player, Jody Sanders is a great MC and makes everyone feel like they are appreciated. Thank you Brother Jody..see you next month and BTW David Jones said he plans on being back. I feel for those who didn't make the meeting.
Randy, maybe I'll bring a cake next month and maybe we can find a coffee pot to help make the cake taste better...jr

Guys, I sure had a great time! Thanks Bubba for the kind words, it was really good to see you again. I hope you will bring your steel next time and play. It was great to meet Randy and Joe and all the other newer folks too. I hope the club can keep growing like it has been...what a great way to share in what we all love - the steel guitar.

Joe - I'll take a piece of that cake next month! Very Happy jc

I don't think I'll make another meeting anytime soon.
I normally have to run the Music store on Sundays.
I just managed to talk to owner into swapping days off with me last week.
I would like to be there for every meeting. Every time I hear some good players it inspires me to practice more which I don't do enough or at all much anymore.
Jody made another great statement at the meeting about reaching for a higher level of playing each time you go out on a gig. It's easy to sit in your comfort zone and play in the box. I discover something new every time I sit behind the steel.
Jody S made a good point about how the club is coming together, I had never been and I felt right at home.
So to any players in this area, if you can go, you should, no matter what level you play at.
You'll have a good time and more than likely learn something as well. There is more knowledge in that one room than you could imagine.
Thanks
John "Bubba"

Hi Jody , my friend. I'm truly sorry I missed the last meeting. I had planned to be there, but the Drs. had other plans for me. I know I missed a great show. If all goes well, I'll come to the next meeting...... Thanks... Jack

Hey folks I just got home last night from the heart surgery and will be recouping for some period of time. I enjoyed reading the posts and seeing the pictures of the meeting. This club has the potential to be one of the very best around. Thanks to all for the prayers and well wishes. Not sure how soon I'll be back to a meeting but believe me I'll be watching you....
