David, that would be me with The Ozark Jubilee Band in July of 1958. I suspect the reason you wanted to know was because of the steel I was playing. It was a 3 neck 8 string Wright Custom and of course made by your dad. I can not remember how I came by it but I traded it to a steel player in Texas a long, long time ago.

David:

I saw that clip a week or so ago and was wondering the same thing.

Gene Jones was on steel in that band circa 1963 or 64, but that clip is a few years earlier.

I have a 1964 pic of Gene with Merl Lindsay and his face looks fuller than this steeler's, but Gene would no doubt know who it is. I've seen a listing of earlier personnel for Lindsay's band, but I can't lay my hands on anything.

Whoops, didn't see Jerry's answer before I posted this.

Great pickin' Jerry.

BTW does anyone remember Don Pearce(The bass player/singer in this video)?
He's was one of my pals in The DFW area in the mid 60s. GREAT entertainer and writer.

(sorry for the hijack David :whoa:)
THANKS!
Bob :)

That's too cool. Those are pretty young boys to be that good already.

Lee.. My dad, brother and I put a lot of miles on a 54 fender bass very much like the one in the video. My mom still has it. The one in the clip is a year or two older.
