Herb Steiner recently posted this link in the "Music not related" thread.

I have transcribed Artie Shaw's solo to the best of my ability and tabbed it for C6/A7. I hope it is of interest. Any suggestions for improvements gratefully received.

Hi Guy really like your tabs but I'm having trouble printing them as JPEGs -the notes print very dark and the leger lines are very faint.
Is there anyway to post them as PDFs ?
I apprieciate your efforts either way.
Thanks

No worries, Rich. I am pleased you are getting some value from my stuff. The PDFs are no problem. I will just have to investigate file sharing and a providing a link. I've done it with audio so it shouldn't be too much trouble. I'll be on it soon. |

Hey Guy sorry I took a while to respond -the PDF worked great.Interesting tuning with the B on the bottom.
I've used the Bb on the bottom in conjuction with the C# which has some cool chord options but never tried a B.
anyway thanks again for your efforts.

Cheers, Rich. I have a chart coming that really exploits the B. It is the Joachim Murphey tuning, I believe, with the B being above the C# which becomes the lowest note. I think that was documented in the John McGann book, page 6, bottom tuning but without the hi C#. Actually, that hi C# looks interesting but I only have an eight string.
This has been my stock tuning since starting on the steel a couple of year ago. |

In pitch, Joachin's B string was in the middle of his tuning, about 246Hz, about 0.018 inches thick.
In position on the guitar, it was closest to him. I suspect that when he decided to add a B string, he just replaced the low A string. |
