The Supersustain II pickups on my '77 MSA D10 have become very microphonic, and I changed them out to George L, E-66's.

What a difference! I am excited and pleased at the new sound. Nothing is more subjective than tone, and there are always comments about tone on here. But, subjectivity has nothing to do with this change, it is day vs night.

I knew I would eventually have to change out the SSII's, and I really didn't want to, but now I am happy that I did.

I took the old pickups apart and re-potted them in beeswax and paraffin. They appear to be humbuckers as there are two coils in each. They are very well made, with solid tapped aluminum mounts. I plan to reinstall them sometime in the future

I did the same in an 80's model that i had, regret selling that guitar, but had to at that time.
The E66 was so good, i installed a pair in my Sho-bud also, and that one came to life too!
Good move, are you sure you want to go back?
