Pick-up and amp question

Post by Gary Holt »

I am considering having a Fishman spider bridge pick-up installed on my Wechter-Scheerhorn. I was also going to purchase the Jerry Douglas Aura Imaging pedal to complement the pick-up. What amp would be recommended to produce the most realistic resonator guitar sound with this set-up? Also, what are some of your opinions on this pick-up and the Aura? :) :)

Thanks,
Gary Holt

dobro pickup

Gary - I have this set-up. There has been much discussion about it on reso-nation. I highly recommend you have Paul Beard or Bobby Wright do the installation of this pickup. It is tricky. Also, the Aura pedal is a must. And the amp of choice seems to be the Fishman Loudbox or Loudbox 100. Good luck. It took 3 tries to get my pickup sounding good and even across all strings, but it's there now and sounds great.

I have the Fishman pickup in my Wechter/Scheerhorn as well and it works fine. I agree with Mr. Wolverton in that you should definitely have a qualified dobro tech do the install. It's not the easiest pickup to get installed and sounding even across all strings.
