I'll tell ya my opinion of that. Gary is showing us all that it is very important to own a double neck rather than a single or a universal. I don't know which is sounding better....C6 sounds on the E9 tuning or just what Gary is showing which is fabulous E9 work on the C6 tuning. I don't want to sound like a know it all but if a person really wants to do fascinating things with a pedal steel then invest in a double neck. I cannot understand why I can't get any of my YouTube videos to sound clean and free of distortion...I posted my Orange Blossom Special the other day and it has distortion in it but the original here on my hard drive sounds clean.

Simply put....Gary is one of the most remarkable players I have come to know. Not only is he a very accomplished steel player but a fantastic musician. His taste for music is unmatched by anyone I know. Thanks for sharing that Larry and thanks Gary for sharing your talent.

John, There are lots of issues with sound in youtube. Some people get around it by recording the audio first and then laying the audio on top of the video somehow. As a matter of fact, Gary would be the one you ask about it. He explained it to me. He'll gladly explain it to you too. By the way I love your youtube videos. If I could only play 1/4 as good...
Keep up your good work!

Thanks Bent for the kind comment. I had just purchased a new video program from Musician's Friend to make videos and its also my first time at using a digital camcorder I guess I'll pretty soon get the hang of it after doing some reading up on everything...thats where all the fun begans. I have also uploaded the video to One True Media so I'll post that on the forum and see if the sound is any better. Thanks again. John

Thanks gents, for your words of encouragement. John, my recording set up may not be the best option, but considering my applicable learning curve, it is, what it is. First off, I finalize a BIAB track which is transferred to a Tascam 788 audio recorder. I mic my amp, dawn a set of head phones, and then engage my PHD (push here dummy) camcorder. Then I start my audio recorder. I do not record the audio first and then play/record back to video. Chances are, I may voice something slightly different, especially if wifey has been nagging me all day. I haven't figured out how to transfer my audio clip directly to a computer, so its mixed to an Archos mp3 audio player/recorder. Both files are then uploaded to my computer and mixed with Pinnacle, my video editing application. I am still experiencing a learning curve with syncing audio to video but at least the audio file has decent tone. I didn't start this process until a year or so after I began with Youtube. Like I suggested, this method is cumbersome, but its all I know at this point. My spare time is best served learning how to play pedal steel, my ears tell me I have much more that needs to be accomplished. Meanwhile, its sure fun noodling around on C6th, finding some E9 voicings. I have to give credit where its due, I heard Terry Bethel in St Louis last year, may have been in the Peavey room. He was playing some neat, what I thought was, E9. Lots of really rich bells and voicings; he was on C6th.

That almost has me turning my S10 into a C6. I may have to try Al Marcus' Lean and Mean Universal.

Taste and tone to die for. Very nice, Gary.

I've never heard better C-6th. I know that Gary practices a heck of a lot, and that coupled with talent, IMO, just can't be beat. Unfortunately I haven't seen Gary play in person in a while as I don't get out much any more but I'm not going to give up. IMO Gary is one heck of a nice guy just to know.

Joe, Jim, Charles and Rich, thanks for words of encouragement! Joe, when we talk "monster," I will kindly re-direct you to this honey-do list sitting on my desk. Its a catch-22....NOT! I will proceed to noodle around and if need be, turn my amp up
