Rick Campbell - Leavin and Sayin Goodbye

Post by Rick Campbell »

Here's a sample from my new "do it all yourself" country CD, with some studio shots. I used BIAB for drums and did all the rest myself. Three fiddles, and plenty of steel.... did I say country?

Thanks to my buddy Jim Hartley for advising me on which drums parts to choose.

I tried doing what you did and it was hard so it never got finished. You did a great job putting that all together and it was one of my all time favorite Faron tunes.

Let's hear some more soon.

Rick, That's a fantastic job you did on it, all the way around.

I really enjoyed it. A Great Country Song.

If you don't mind me asking, what is the Recording Studio you have there? It looked to be about as complicated as what an AW4416 is.

Thanks for the listen,

Don

:) Howdy! Rick: That's some darn good singing and playing! That's the kind of song that I would rather dance to than play in the band! That's the kind of song should put everyone out on the dance floor at a dance gig! I hope there are many more to come! Keep it up!
Always, Gene Rector

I'm using a Roland VS-2480. It's not complicated once you get into it, but there is a pretty stiff learning curve.

I'm also using a Universal Audio LA-610 Mic Pre. All the steel, bass, and guitar where recorded plugged directly into the board. No amps involved. Fiddle was played into a Audio Technica 4033 and/or a Oktava Ribbon Mic. Also used an RV-3 on the steel.

Thanks Rick, for that information. I'd say you've got it all figured out, because it sure did sound quite professionally done, on this end.

Now that's music I can listen to and enjoy, and I definitely enjoyed it. Keep them coming, as I'm quite certain they'll all be great. Nice work on all of the instruments as well.

A "One Man Group" can't be beat. :)

Thanks again,
Don

Great job Rick. You have the same setup that I do, the VS-2480 and I'm still learning on mine but they really do a pro job recording. Maybe you can give me some recording tips sometime. I also play fiddle and steel and just really enjoyed your Faron Young song, get job. Keep em coming.--Henry

Rick,

I listened very closely to both of your songs on the forum. Do I detect a little "Darius" influence in your music?

Yes, I'm trying to break away from the tradtional country sound into a more pop rock format. How do you think I'm doing?

That is a cool video and a great song. There's a bunch more where that came from on Rick's CD.

Rick, your CD is outstanding. Fantastic job!
