Picks vs No Picks

Post by Dennis Saydak »

Here's a relative newcomer to Youtube who plays beautifully IMHO. He plays with no fingerpicks at all. I love his guitar.

Picks

Post by Jim Saunders »

Dennis, picks vs: no picks reminds me of Chet Atkins, who used only a thumb pick, but some of the purists on guitar were critical of using any pick.

When I play guitar I use a flat-pick and my middle finger, whith my ring finger at times. I think most guitar players do this. It seems that your finger builds callousis and hardens, acting much like a pick.

BTW, this guy really plays great. Very tasteful. Nice phrasing. Thanks.

I really love the tone I get with fingers on the pedal steel, I just wish I could do it better.

I'll post a video, you guys can give the review...

Well, as good a testimony as any for no-picks is our friend the fabulous Bobbye Seymour; uses a thumb pick only. 8)
