Firefox works just fine on Windows 2000 Professional computers. Of course, they should be updated to SP4 and have all available patches installed, including the GDI patch.

Thank you, Wiz. I won't be using this box for any serious browsing - in fact, I'm not sure what I'll do with it just now. The PC is a mini-desktop freebie that my son's school was going to pitch - said it didn't work. No name on it, but the mobo is an Asus CUSI-FX. I put 2000 Pro on it because a) that OS seemed more suitable for an 8 Gb hard drive and 500 MHz Celeron CPU, and b) nostalgia. I've always thought 2000 Pro was one of Microsoft's better efforts.

I have all available updates, including SP4.

Thanks, all.

Maybe use it as an excuse to play around with linux a little :)

If you keep Windows 2000 on there you should patch it for the new daylight savings rules.
