This is so saddening. I've said before that Tom and 'Together Again' is the exact reason I play steel today. I wore out that track on the vinyl playing that great song.
He will forever be in my memories and thoughts. I am so proud to say, 'I shook his hand in St Louis'.
Rolene, please accept our deepest sympathy and condolences.

I don't know what to say that has not already been said. What a sad, sad day for the steel guitar community.
Lord, bless his family.

This is really terrible news! I think of Tom each time I set down to my steel with the "Brumley" pedal in the first slot. Tom was really a legend and a master of the good old west coast sound. He's mostly associated with the E9th tuning but one of my best memories of him was from Carl Dixon's convention in Atlanta in '98. Tom had a Rick frypan (I think it was Scotty's) and played some amazing stuff on the six string C6th tuning. And with his work on Rick Nelson's stuff he made the steel guitar "cool"........JH in Va.
Don't matter who's in Austin (or anywhere else) Ralph Mooney is still the king!!!

As so many have said, it is a terribly sad day because of losing Tom. I have always held Tom and his playing in the most high respect. A main influence of pedal steel and the finest gentleman ever.
Tom's solo on Dwight Yokum's "I Sang Dixie" I regard as one of the best modern pedal steel guitar solos of all time.
Yes, it is a sad day.
My sincere condolences to Tom's family.

Tom's Passing
I am saddened by this news, but was expecting it, after watching the reports for so many days. The world we know will never be the same. I pray Rolene and Tom's family will be comforted by the grace of our Father God.
"The clock of life is wound but once, and no man has the power, to say just when the hands may stop, at late or early hour, now is the only time we have, so live, love, work with a will, place not your faith in tomorrow, for the hands may then be still"
Tom, Your spirit is with us now.

So very sad, and such a loss for all that are left behind. My heartfelt condolences to the family.
Tom was a classy guy, at the steel and away from it. I had the pleasure of working with him a few times, and I will always treasure the experience and the memories.
Like other greats who have gone before, "Now he belongs to the ages."

Alot of prayers were said for Tom and God took him gently when it was time. Rolene, I don't know what to say except that you had a very precious piece of heaven in your years with Tom. He gave the love of himself & his music that will never be forgotten. My prayers for you and your family will be continual.
God Bless you and your family ...
You will be "Together Again" one day...

What a gift Tom Brumley was to all of us and to the world!
GOD is so good, HE gave us Tom for awhile and bestowed the talents on Tom, and his great artistry of playing the steel guitar.
I often share this verse of Scripture from The Bible because it is GOD's Word and it is fitting now:
Psalms 116:15
"Precious in the sight of The LORD is the death of HIS saints."
For you see, Tom is with JESUS CHRIST and he's home now.
Dear HEAVENLY FATHER be with Tom's family, friends and loved ones at this time. Give them YOUR peace and comfort. And LORD thank YOU for sharing YOUR child Tom Brumley with us. In JESUS CHRIST's Name. Amen!
May GOD bless each of you!
Terry

Even when we know its coming, it still is a shock and a terrible loss for everyone who knew and loved Tom. He was not only a great steel play but one of the truely nice guys of all time. Prayers and thoughts go out to Rolene and all of the family and to all of his many many friends throughout the world.

This is another sad day for our community. We're losing too many of our friends and icons.
I did not know Tom personally, but I listened to his music many many times.

Tom was a great player and a wonderful person. Many people aspired to his examples, in playing and in grace.
I once slowed down one of his parts to hear it better, and it was like listening to someone's heartbeat. There was a unique lyricism in his fingers, unlike any other.
We're all gonna miss Tom.

I am still at a loss for words. He gave us so many great musical moments, besides being one of the nicest people one could meet. I am thankful for all the great music he left us.
My heartfelt prayers and condolences to Rolene and the family. May God guide you through these troubled times.
Rest in Peace, Tom!
Kind Regards, Walter
