Great! I enjoyed those. It is refreshing.

A couple other names I recognize from these parts in Stu Shulman on guitar and Doug Livingstone on keys, right?

I like the non-moving stockinged feet shot about 4 minutes into Way To Survive.

Edited for being unnecessarily opinionated.

I expressed my preference for how I think a steel should be played, and, upon reflection, it was a harsh and unjustified post, as all styles of playing should stand on their own merit.

The funny thing was that I was the only guy to play A Way to Survive at the show....

Thank you for showing that a PSG has more than a couple tones/voices. If I weren't watching, I'd have been wondering how that Stratocaster player was playing those licks.

Now, what would I have to do to put a second pickup on my MSA Classic? Hmmmmm.......

Very fine and expressive playing, Dan.

Thanks for the nice comments (and for your restraint, Richard :) ).

Rich, this new guitar can really sound like a big fat strat. Normally I use a Lawrence 705 in the bridge position and a Tonealigner in the neck, but my Tonealigner pickup was damaged in transit, so I used a Lawrence 710 that Big Jim was nice enough to lend me. Both of those songs were played with both pickups on, in phase, through a THD 40 watt amp (prototype) into a 15" BW cabinet. No efx except for a little echo (I think I used the least effects of any steel player on the show).

I was watching an episode of "Roseanne" the other night and Roseanne's husband is reading the newspaper and tells her about a woman who stabbed her husband 61 times to death...And Roseann said at least she showed some restraint.

Great playing there, Dan! You have the most wonderful human-like voice on the steel on several occasions in these videos. Great back-up band, too. Would that be three forum steelers in the same band?

Thanks Jan. That's indeed a great backup band (including formumites Doug Livingston and Stu Schulman. I always try to play with musicians that are better than I am, whenever possible. Now if I were Buddy Emmons, that might be problematic, but I usually have no problems attaining that goal.

Very cool.
Sacred Steel, Lapsteel and PSG styles combined
with a good dose of 60's soul music. What's not to like!
DLD, Chili farmer. Plus bananas and papaya too.

Real happiness has no strings attached.
But pedal steels have many!

I notice similar tone in his recordings with the lapsteel too.
So it's NOT the PSG steel so much in this case,
but his fingers.

And some amp settings choice too now doubt.
Just pushing that THD enough for a bit of grit.
