Just got mine today....took a while to get to the UK.

I am very pleased with it, but now I want some new strings for it.

Brad, how are those D'Addario EJ42 strings?

So far they've been just fine when using the open D tuning:

1. D - .016 inch /.041 mm
2. A - .018 inch / .046 mm
3. F# - .026 inch / .066 mm
4. D - .035 inch / 0.89 mm
5. A - .045 inch / 1.14 mm
6. D - .056 inch / 1.42mm

I tried tuning it to open G with the same strings, but it started making creaking noises. I don't know if the creaking was coming from the tuners or the wood, but I wasn't going to take any chances. It's back in open D for now.

I just ordered a Goldtone Weissenborn case for it, as the supplied gig bag is extremely thin. Still, for $99.00 USD what do you want? :)

I tried a friend's Dean Markley ProMag Plus pickup in the sound hole. It fit perfectly and sounded pretty good, although I had to boost the bass on the amp to get it to come through properly.

I'd appreciate it if anyone would take the time to post a soundbite of one of these guitars being played.

thanks,

Here's an audio sample I recorded on Thursday, 29 January 2009 using two Røde NT-4 microphones and a Tascam HD-P2 recorder. The tuning used was Bm7, which is open D with the high A tuned to B, as follows:

1. D
2. B
3. F#
4. D
5. A
6. D

I tried to hit all the strings, so you could get an idea of the overall sound of the instrument. I'm very happy with the guitar.

I remembered something about a very cheap weissenborn copy that I had read about on this forum, off I went to the search function and here it was.

Does anyone know if these are still made/sold?

Thanks,
Hans
