Watching Hee Haw a few minutes ago, and Roy Clark did his instrumental, accompanied by a steel player. The hands looked familiar, and the fabulous passages sounded familiar. They never showed his face, but stopped just above the chin. To me it appeared to be the Big E. Then I realized he was playing those fantastic C6 chords on the top neck. That convinced me it had to be ole Buddy. Correct me if I'm wrong. I believe I'm not as I haven't made one mistake all this year (yet).
Y'all get back!

I didn't see the show, but Chalker had the necks on his guitar reversed from what is common today. I believe so did Ralph Mooney. It would probably feel right to me since I play an S-10 and know little C-6.
If it was the chords that impressed you, it was likely Chalker.

I know for sure that Curly Chalker played a Shobud before he switched to an MSA, and that he played for the Hee Haw band.
