Happy New Year Mr. Smith,

How about a tapered bar like the original Bigsby's? I might be able to get the dimensions from a friend up here.

Hey Russ, could this be a Bigsby bar? I aquired this over 20 years ago with an old Magnatone 8 string lapsteel called a Troubadour. Happy New Year!

It's tapered but there are no manufacturer markings.

Hey Dave,

That looks like a Chase bar. Is it really light?

Marty- the Sho-Bud is doing great thanks to you. I'll be playing it tonight in fact. How's yours? I'm OK on string covers- do you need the one you gave me back? If you can copy that tapered Bigsby bar I'll take one for sure. Say hi to Liz!

Dave- that must be a Chase bar. They are hollowed and then filled with something. I like the taper but they are too light.

Yes, they feel good in the hands but can't get much tone out of it.

I will copy the bigsby bar but it takes more time because of the taper.

JW's amp doesn't hum. You should check with Tim Maag 714) 447-8364. He knows all about 'em.

Bar nose

Post by Pat Goodbla »

Marty....

Does your milling process eliminate the "shoulder" at the transition? It seems that most bars have a slight but distinctive ridge at that location when rounding the end.

Yes I machine it in with no noticable transition. I've seen a lot of new bars out there that have the line where the nose comes in , it gets hung in the strings.
Thanks

Not to get off track here but what's the purpose or advantage of the taper on that bar in the above photo?

If y'all wanna get rid of those chase bars I'll be happy to adopt them and give them a fine home and education.
