Hi guys, I recorded this song "Laura" (pop jazz tune) in 1951 on my Used 8 string 6 pedal 1942 Gibson ElectraHarp, at a local radio station.
They did a transcription of several songs on a Wax Platter inside out in those days.
I plugged directly into the Board, no amp, had earphones to hear myself.
If I goofed, they would have had to scrap the Platter and start all over again. So I played them close to the vest and played it safe.
The first one, I didn't get a good start, stopped, and had to do it over, with a new platter. The Engineer said, "Don't do that again, these platters are expensive"
After that I did 7 Classic Big Band standards right in a row. I didn't want them to get mad and have to use another platter.LOL>. It worked out ok and this song "Laura" is just one of them.
I thought you might be interested in the history of music and recording in my early life when we still had 78's rpm and just getting into LP's.
A big thanks to Charles Tilley for setting up this website so we can hear all the different styles of good playing by all our Forum Members.
Thanks ,Tilley and happy New Year to all our Forum members with many more ahead to keep playing that Steel Guitar....al. _________________ Michigan (MSGC)Christmas Dinner and Jam on my 80th Birthday.

C.Christofferson-Thanks for the nice comments. I appreciate it.
By the 70's and 80's I worked a lot with some very good country bands, usually E9th. When I was in Phoenix with the Country Counts, in the 70's, Tex Williams came into town and we backed him up at the Governors Ball. I had my great little D10 PP Emmons and got a chance to get on the C6 neck with Tex. That was fun.But It wasnt recorded.
Thanks to Charles Tilley, his site is a good one for us guys to put up a recording for our
Forum Members. Happy New Year...al. _________________ Michigan (MSGC)Christmas Dinner and Jam on my 80th Birthday.
