"Hallelujah"

Post by James Kerr »

I posted this over on the No Pedals board and thought maybe others would like to hear it too.
I decided to try Ray Langley's Ideal 6 String tuning and at the same time let the Forum hear my 1954 Tiesco Lap Steel. Now its more than 35 years since I tried to play a Lap Steel, so I hope you will all be gentle with me.

Over here in the UK, X-Factor has just come to an end and the song chosen to be released is "Hallelujah" sung by the winner. but there is some competition from other artists with the same song for No. 1 spot at Christmas, so I thought I would join in the fun.

Full details :- 1954 Tiesco 6 string Lap Steel, playing through a VOX Valvetronix. Recorded with a Zoom H2 Digital Recorder.

Please go here to listen, Its the first song on the list and will start automatically. Thank you.

James, you got a LOT of sound out of that lap steel!
To me it was the closest in tone to a pedal steel I have heard in a long time. Great work my man!
