Anyone notice the vast improvment in the playlist at Willy's since the XM-Sirius merger. Much better, lots more older country. Maybe they heard the rants from here, ya think? Way to go, lets do more of it.

Respectfully, I am not sure I like the new format. I especially enjoyed the new traditionalists like Amber Digby, Jake Hooker, Justin Trivino etc. who don't seem to be getting as much airplay. I truly hope these and other fine artists are not deprived of an avenue of exposure because of the XM/Sirrius merger.

You do have a good point with the stars you mentioned, along with Heather Myles.I like them as well, and hope they give them all play time. But , I do like that old country too.

just my 2bits

I absolutely detest the new format, it is obviously a lot af the same stuff that was used on the old "Roadhouse" channel at Sirius. Gone is all the music that made Willie's Place the wonderful channel it was. The entire Texas, Western Swing, shuffle catalog has been replaced with Jim Reeves and Eddie Arnold Ballads and the likes of Tennesee Ernie Ford and Jimmy Dean. I'm not saying those artists are not good, I'm just saying that they are NOT what Willie's Place was. BTW, Willies Place was the #1 rated satellite Country Music Channel pre-merger. I suggest we inundate Sirius/XM with complaints and demand the old format back! Thank you, I am now calmed down. Very Happy

Thank you Stephen. You made my point much better than I did.

I'm thinking with the Sirrius/XM merger, Willie's place has fallen under the umbrella of: "If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is".

The Sirius/XM programmers have been "adjusting" the whole channel layout and contents.

Don't get comfortable with anything, they'll change it.

Right now there's a whole channel devoted to AC/DC. Sounds pretty good for a while, then, like malted milk balls, you tire of 'em.

This past week I heard some Dale Watson, Holly Dunn, Heather Myles and other real country singers with warm bodies and beatin' hearts Cool For now this is just about perfect. The old Willy's place was getting to where I could just about name the next song coming up. Because of the loop they played every day.

Willie's Place has been destroyed. It is now home to the same bland, predictable "classic country" playlist you might hear on any podunk am station in America. Instead of hearing twin fiddles, steel guitar, booming upright bass and in your face Texas Honky Tonk and Western Swing, we now have the same old bland crossover country crap from 40 years ago that Sirius featured! Yeah now we can hear "classics" like Big Bad John, Wolverton Mountain, and the like 3 or four times a day. These kinds of programming decisions will ruin satellite radio just as the same type of decisions have ruined cable tv. Programming to the "middle of the road" doesn't work anymore, especially in light of the myriad of choices available through media such as the internet, ipods, etc. Satellite radio as we knew it IS DEAD!!!! Yes, I'll say it again!

This past weekend's playlist was nicely entertaining.
Heather Myles, Bobby Flores, Ray Price, Mel Tillis...

All the usual suspects. I enjoyed it.

Granted, if you were previously a Sirius subscriber you might like the "new" Willie's Place, but as a subscriber to both services for 5+ years I can tell you unequivocally, that the real Willie's Place on XM was much better. The content since the merger has become watered down to a large degree.

The old Willie's Place was the best, except they played more Carl Smith and Hank Williams than I wanted to hear. Just not my preference. You'd think that with 200, or whatever the channel selection is, they could leave well enough alone, and let us have a honky tonk channel, without it being compromised.

I hope they don't get into the "hits mode" .... if they play Jack Greene it has to be "There Goes My Everything" I want to hear the B sides and filler songs, that never got airplay in the 60's/70's.

There's channels on there that I don't have any idea what they play. For me it's Willie's Place and talk radio. If you want to hear some weird stuff, listen to George Nory Coast to Coast late night on 165. I also like Bruce Williams 7-10 weeknights on 158, and Leo Leporta the high tech guy 2-5 Saturday and Sunday on 158. My radio will record them and I listen when I get time while I'm driving.
