Here's an old classic video with Buddy backing up Jeanie Seeley. Of course he was playin one of my very favorite year models of the Emmons steel guitars ever built.

After that plays, a screen came up to select the same song with an old Willie Nelson version (back before the outlaw days).

I wonder if Willie wrote that song.

Willie did a pop-country studio recording of the tune. And on Willie Nelson's "Grand Ole Opry 'Live Classics'" CD, you can find a SWING version with Jimmy Day on steel, circa mid-1960's.

Question: the "lick" (for lack of a better term) that he plays during the intro from 0:07-0:09. I'm assuming that is an Emmons lick. (Or possibly Jimmy Day?) Oftentimes, the same type of lick is done on the "one" chord, but here Emmons does it on the "four" chord, right before the "one".

There's a very good version of that song on "The Last Country Album" by Heybale. Those of you that haven't heard it really should give it a listen. Great production with lots of superb steel by Tommy Detamore and Cindy Cashdollar.
