OR: Portland Jam Nov 9th

Post by Larry Behm »

It is time again for the fall Portland Steel Jam. We will be at the M&M in Gresham Or, (137 Main St).

We have been here many times, easy load in, great food, good times. (No dancing girls this time, our OLD hearts can't take it anymore.)

We start at 1:00, come early and get setup.

This is a great opportunity to meet and greet the steelers in our area and you even get to hear them play a lick or two.

For us it is all about the brotherhood, we are a close knit group and many of us are in touch with each other on a weekly basis.

Contact me or Harley James if you have questions

I used the heading of Portland as many folks may not know that Gresham Oregon is a suburb of Portland.

Bill Tony is a Doctor and if he can keep us both alive there is still time, we are not dead yet. What a treat it would be to have you there, just like old times again.

Walk across the street and get Chuck Back to come along too.

Is there going to be a place to display instruments for sale? I've got a pair of Lap Steels I'd like to sell off while I'm there (an Asher Electo-Hawaiian and a Chandler RH-2.)

I'm also going to bring my brand spankin' new Sterner Mini-T Koa Top 6-string lap tuned to B6 that I'd be happy to let folks play on (though it's NOT for sale!)

Need to know.................

Does one have to dress-up fancy and all that kind of stuff to attend your shin-dig?

Is attendance 'restricted' to multi-pedal instruments or models designed after 1980?

I understand this event is open to both professional, working musicians and beginners alike, but what about amatuers?

Any age restrictions? Are wheel chair ramps or scooter access available?

If someone doesn't have a girl to bring along, might there be some there to help out the musicians, like handing out and selling their autographed 8 x 10 glossy, black and white photographs, BIG NOTE song books and tableture libraries, and to turn the pages of his sheet music so the music stand won't get knocked over?

Just curious.

EVERYONE SHOULD KNOW that Larry Behm and his friends have been hosting these events for more years than I can recall. Lot's of hard work and dedication donated here for the enjoyment of the rest of us.

Make sure Raymond Montee brings an instrument along, or he don't get in! Ray is a great player of Country & Hawaiian styles!

Sundays are a normal work day for me, but as usual, I will try to "'nock off a lil' early" as they say, and swing out there to "hang with the gang" for a few.
Cool,

Missed this page as I am busy doing lots of stuff.

Gig tonight at the Truck Stop, and I'll just keep the stuff in the car, and make sure I have room to sleep in it. Just like the old days.

These things are great. You can expect people to get their ears, egos, and feelings hurt. Probably one in each category..

History sorts out the pansies.

People that SHOW UP end up writing it..
