Swingin West- Mike Gross Saturday(10/18)

Post by Mike Gross »

This Saturday’s (10-18-08) weekly edition of “Swingin’ West” can be heard from 2:00- 3:00 PM (eastern) on WVOF-FM (88.5) in Fairfield Connecticut and streams world wide on the Internet at www.swinginwest.com or www.wvof.org

The theme for this week’s show is Bob Wills favorites. The salute features a couple of Bob Wills recordings, including a very rare cut with Tommy Doss on vocal, as well as Wills favorites from some of today’s top names in Western Swing. Cuts by Bad Bob Rohan, Bill Gilbert, Jim Garling and Cowbop are included in addition to a cut from Steve Alcott’s brand new play-a-long CD. There are also cuts from hit CDs by Ray Harrison (with awesome John Hughey-steel), Brady Bowen and John England and the Western Swingers. There are also some wonderful steel players saluting Wills such as France’s Lionel Wendling and a cut from a brand new CD by Bill Stafford.

You will also enjoy cuts from hit CDs by Cody Dodson, the Bobby Lueders Band and Paul Main. The closing theme is done by steel guitarist Tony Farr.

Again, the weekly edition of "Swingin' West" can be heard on line by clicking the mouse on the appropriate spot toward the bottom of the home page of the "Swingin' West" web site, www.swinginwest.com You will need to have the free Quick time downloaded on your computer.

Thank You!
