Here is a tune that I've never heard before. Jackie Phelps on guitar, gets a few licks in. :)

That looks like the same make of guitar that Jimmy Bryant used for his modal twelve string tuning, made by The Springfield Guitar Company in Springfield, Missouri.
Notice Jackie was playin with only two fingers? He played banjo for Monroe on some of those Gannaway tapings, three finger rolls with two fingers. Great picker!

Yes, that's a singleneck Stratosphere guitar, Jimmy Bryant had a doubleneck one. The steel player is probably Bob Foster. Chet and Bud Isaacs btw played on the original recorded version on the song.

WOW..That has become my wife and I's song!! :whoa:

Who da thunk...after all these years. 44 years ago,in San Jose CA. I went into a Mels Drive In
driving my '58 Impala and the purdiest lil' girl I ever met came up and said, "Can I help you?"
I said "yes I'd like a cup of coffee". she asked what I'd like in it and I said. "I'd like 7 sugars but don't stir it cause I don't like it sweet".
She laughed at that and walked to get my order.
As I watched her walk away I looked at THAT and thought DAMN, that's nice!! 7 days later I asked her to marry me and 3 months later we did.

6 kids and 17 grandkids were still best friends! ;-)
