I made my first trip to Nashville in early May of 1963, while serving in the U.S Army.
I stayed at the YMCA, which was kitty corner from the WSM studios.
I attended the Friday Night OPRY in the WSM studios. Loretta Lynn & Margie Bowes were new members of the OPRY at this time.
On Saturday night I attended the Grand Ole Opry at The Reiman.
I had listened to the OPRY as a teenager in Minnesota,and it was such a thrill to finally see the performers in person.

Pete Drake played PSG on the OPRY and Shot played his Dobro w/ Roy Acuff.

After the OPRY I went over to the Ernest Tubb Record Shop for The Midnight Jamboree. There I got to meet Pete Drake in person.

Larry : thanks heaps for posting this video of our de-parted buddy, Shot Jackson, whom, in my opinion did a lot for the steel guitar Community and country music, in general. I probably would never have taken up the steel , if not for Shot. I bought my first resonator guitar from Shot, back in the sixties. First met him at a Kitty Wells Concert down in Charleston, S.C. in the mid fifties. Have owned one of the Cross-over sho-buds [ 1967 ]. In the 70's I bought one of the Lloyd Green Models. All great guitars. A great man, indeed.. Bernie
