I use .012 on my Emmons for a long time too, Due to my studio session schedule. I change it every week or every 10 days . Ain't broke one yet. I also use Frenchy's Silent Series nickel ,for me, the best string ever. I'm trying .011 on my Derby and I'm starting to brake that 3th string again...!!!!! I sometimes use .012 and sometimes .0115. I don't hear a feel or hear a big difference between them.

Adair,

I visited your website. The song Sweet Memories... What ax were you using? The Derby or Emmons? Sure has a beautiful tone. You have a nice clean touch. Many PSG players in Brazil?

I have used a 12 for years.
It helps fatten up the sound of that high string.

I use 0.0115 or 0.012. For me it balances better with the other strings. An 0.011 always sounds thin and weak to me. I haven't noticed any differences in breakage.

Hi Jeff..
I recorded that video playing my Emmons.
I am the only professional musician who plays pedal steel here in Brazil. Probally the only who makes money with that job.
I've had students every now and then, but...they usually give up too easily.... Laughing
Thank you for the nice comment.

I have used .012's ever since Jeff Newman told me to back in 1976. They don't hurt any more that an .011 when they break and IMHO they really sound better.

Yep I have used .012's on my Super Pro and my MCI for 20 odd years, and now use jagwire 0115's on my Zums - probably not much difference between the two.

I tried a .013 about 10 weeks ago...I love it and it has not broken yet. I guess I should change it pretty soon before the explosion...lol. It sure makes the ZUM sound bigger. I also use a .015(4th),.019(5th). Good luck
