Great!!! I've been waiting for Danny's next installment and once again he delivers the goods! Talk about tone, touch, and new ideas for days. 8)

Does anybody know what his copedent is? And what the heck is he doing with his right foot when playing the top neck?

Ever since I started playing in Denver back in the early 70's there was a mysterious steel guitar connection concerning great players in Arizona. Is it the water, the Horseshoe rings or what?

Way to go Danny!

Rick, I noticed that right foot going also. I think he has a pull for the E9th on the far right. What pull though, is the question...
I also like the fact that he never touched the volume pedal and still gets such killer sound and lots of sustain to boot.
Super control of the string attack with the right hand.
Just super picking IMO.

Maybe Danny will chime in here and talk about the top neck; I don't think that it's an E-9th.

Hi Everybody,
Thanks for being so kind. I thought it was a little slow and depressing. It was like watching cement set. As far as my tuning it is an open G. I lower into a D ninth. My guitar plays easy so I have two pedals working both necks,my right foot drops my tenth a whole step. Thanks again Danny : :

Sonny Curtis (of Tammy Wynett fame...) tuned his guitar to A and lowered it to E.

Tuning to G and lowering to D is the same thing but a whole tone lower. I played in D and raised to G for many years before strings became reliable enough to stay in E.

I also played in Eb and raised to Ab, aka Tom Brumley and the Buckeroos for a few years. I suspect the changes are the same on the pedals but the key names are different.

Regards, Paul

Hello Greg and Charles,
I'll answer Charles first. Sorry, I've never done a CD. I never worked with a band that wanted to play steel instrumentals.
And Greg, when I was young I worked in a family band for years. We played the Nevada circuit for years. We were called "The Sneed Family". We were lucky, we got to work with people like Bob Wills, Wade Ray, and that's where I got to hear a lot of great steel players. Right now I'm playing the same saloon I've played for 15 years. Well, at least it's steady.
Thanks everybody,
Danny

You mite not remember back in the 60's I worked at your club in Montana. Then I came to Alaska with a band and you were playing at the Montana Club. I still jam with Ronnie Wise ever so often. Good job. Enjoyed your videos
Thanx,
Dan

Just for the heck of it, I thought I'd check out Danny's Youtube site just to see if he snuck anything new in there. Sure enough, there was a really cool new one!!!

Danny, what can you tell us about your bottom neck?

I'm so glad to hear the steel as a solo instrument more and more, and I think Danny is becoming one of my top fav soloists!
