I would like to consider splitting a Nashville 400 into two lighter cabinets. I may not do the work myself, but will likely get my son-in-law as he is a cabinet maker. I'd like to create two new cabinets and save the original. I have a couple of questions:
    1. Where can a person order and buy cabinet parts like corner guards, grill cloth, tolex, handles, cable jacks, etc.
    2. Does anyone happen to have, and be willing to share, the cabinet dimensions/details for splitting the original caninet into a head and speaker cab.
    3. Any advice they might want to share in tackling such a project.

www.partsexpress.com has corners, handles, tolex, grill cloth, etc.

Also Antique Radio www.tubesandmore.com

If you buy Tolex covering, get the Tolex glue from Antique Radio - it works great. I've built a lot of cases, seats, etc and used other glues, but will never use anything but the Tolex glue from now on.

I built a new cabinet for a Nashville 112 about two years ago and used that Tolex glue and it was the easiest glue to work with and the results were "professional" looking.

Chuck recently saw a split 400 on Tommy Butlers myspace page, looked fantastic.Don't know if he bought it that way or built it himself, perhaps you might check with him.Regards Malcolm

Malcolm, thanks for the input. I saw that earlier. That is a real nice job of creating a head cabinet and a separate speaker cabinet.

That work was done by Mr. Rick Johnson, and he did a very nice job indeed. He builds cabinets like this on a regular basis. Here is a link to his website http://rickjohnsoncabs.com/site
I have contacted him about getting him to make me a set. Not to take anything away from Rick, unfortunately, right now I can't justify getting him to build me a finished set.

So, as an alternative, I'm trying to figure out a different approach. One possibility is for him to build the cabinets and I do all the finish work. That may be a possibility, as it saves quite a bit, but is still not in the range I'm comfortable with. Another possibility is I may be able to get my son-in-law to build me a set. The drawback there is he doesn't know much about amps, like what they're made of, how stuff is mounted, etc., and he is about 600 miles away from here.

I still welcome other ideas anyone in the forum might have.

Once I get this sorted out and have something to show for it, I'll post some pictures.

Once upon a time, one of our fellow Forumites (maybe John LeMay?) had a link to a web site that had detailed drawings, or plans, for split cabinets for the Nashville 400. They were perfect for the "do it yourselfer".

Thanks Lee!! I went and searched the archives of the forum. Sure enough I found a thread mentioning that there were some detailed plans and drawings on John Lemay's website at www.miracle-audio.com

However, it appears that site is not working or possibly no longer in existence. It would be nice to have gotten those. I am guessing no one would have retrieved those and still has a copy.

Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but since I saw the question and had a response, I figured I'd post up.

Here's the drawing of John LeMay's plans for at least the head part of the Nashville. Thanks. -J
