Hi guys, yes I do plan to be there. Ernie, I talked with Ken this week and he is headed to the east coast for some E&R. He was not sure if he will be back in time to make an appearance. We do hope you are feeling much better and can come. We sure do miss your great playing. We have been having some greaat times and several new people have appeared. Here's hoping they all return. See you this Sat.

Folks,
At the last meeting the men who run the COUNTRY & WESTERN MUSEUM had barbque sandwiches for sale...seems like it was $5.00 for that big old sandwich, bag of chips, and a cold sodey pop. Also seems like there was maybe a cookie or brownie for desert.
Ken, if think they will be available again, Jill and I will stop and eat a few of them as we pass through town!

How far are you going to be from the airport? I'll be staying at the Airport Hyatt and playing a show that night at the Oklahoma City Zoo Amphitheater. We get in around 11:00am, and our showtime is 6:00pm. www.zooamp.com I may have a few hours to hang out.

Randy, what a honor it would be for us to have you attend our jam. Miles from the airport may be at most 15, however, 14 of it would be interstate travel. In fact our meeting place is not that far from the zoo. From the airport you would be going north on Meridian take a right at the sign "to I-44. Take I-44 north to I-40 east to Del City exit Sunny Lane turn south to 29th St take a right to the Country Music Hall of Fame on north side of street. Just call 405-630-8035 if you need help. We want you to join us!!

I will need a ride, we are flying in. This show is a little different so I don't quite know what to expect yet. There are several bands and two stages setup. I probably won't find out about load-in or sound check times 'till I get there. Lorren, I'll give you a call after I get there and get more info. I'm always up for a good cup of coffee as well.
It has been several years since I drove around OK City. I never was that good at it even then.

Well Randy Beavers said he may have some time to hang out with us and hang out he did. You are right Ernie, what a great afternoon it was. It was great in many ways including you making an appearance once again and letting us here your great playing style. With the exception of great talent, you would have thought Randy was just one of the guys. This is what I learned from the great opportunity I had to be that close with one of Oklahoma's best steel players. He sure made that Thomas have what they all say about "tone to the bone". Yes, I was trying to learn from setting close to Wayne another great player so willing to help anyone who wants to learn. We just wish he was able to join us every month. What a great group of guys great playing from everyone that took their turn. Having Hutch with his singing talent just makes it an outstanding time to be together. I didn't get the new drummer's name, just want to thank hime for being there and enjoyed his voice. Yes, Randy really enjoyed his time with us and hats off to him for letting us have a small amount of his time before the show.

I want to thank everyone for their kindness. Usually when we get into town early there's nothing to do. But not this time! Lorren shuttled me from the hotel to the jam session, and back again. (I felt much safer than I had earlier in the week when we had New York drivers) Also, he set his guitar and gear up and let me play it.
I enjoyed meeting, talking and getting to play with each of you. If the situation to "do it again" ever comes up, count me in.
Thanks again,
Randy

What a great time we had yesterday at the Jam session. Enough cannot be said for the planning and attendance of all you "pickers and grinners". The facilities we are using are outstanding, thanks to Del City.
Several pickers came from out of town and we appreciate you: i.e. Wayne Morton (Tishomingo), Ed Hattabaugh (Tulsa), Ernie Dunlap (Ada), Calvin Reasner (Crescent), and Randy Beavers (Nashville, TN).
Special thanks to Lorren White for coordinating Randy Beavers' visit with us. Randy is an amazing player and all-around nice guy. Lorren, don't even think about wiping off the strings of your guitar after all the hot licks Randy played on it! Randy, thank you very much for sitting in with us!
More special thanks to our backup band:
Ray Guess on Drums and Vocal
John Anderson on Bass and Vocals
Ernie Dunlap on Lead Guitar
Wayne Hutchinson on Rhythm and Main Vocals
And more special THANKS TO Ken Hoyt for taking the lead in planning these gigs.
See ya next time.

It looks like I missed a good meeting. Unexpected circumstances prevented me from attending, but I am happy that the regular attendees were gratifed by the attendance of your special guest, Randy Beavers. He is one of the pro's working from Nashville, and I noticed in the local newspaper that Lee Ann Womack was appearing at the Zoo so I assume Randy was supporting her performance.
I am looking forward to the next meeting.
