Hey Walter,
I just love this stuff... "Classic Country"
I think Bob Dunn is the steel player on your 'Clip of the Week'

Gentlemen,
Both Noel Boggs and Bob Dunn certainly belong in that category. This player's name has almost been forgotten, although he played with several hot Western Swing Bands of the era and also wrote several classic tunes. In this case, the band is Bill Boyd & his Cowboy Ramblers...

Hey Walter,
I knew it was the "Ramblers"...that part was easy.
But, wasn't Bob Dunn the steel player with Bill Boyd and his Cowboy Ramblers (For part of their history anyway.)? Was this clip recorded after Bill Boyd took up acting? If it was recorded after Mr. Boyd went to Hollywood it could have been anybody.

Johnne,
As far as I know Bob Dunn never recorded with Bill Boyd. He was with Milton Brown originally, then headed his own band, the Vagabonds.
The player on this clip (recorded 1946 in New Orleans) is Andrew "Andy" Schro(e)der who came from Fort Worth originally. He is also the writer of the classic "Roadside Rag". Bill Boyd's original steel players were Wilson "Lefty" Perkins and John Boyd. On his later recordings around 1950, Paul Blunt played steel.
