I bought this Matchbox on Ebay yesterday. Does anybody know how old/what version this is?
I have never used a matchbox before and I am quite curios on how it works. I have a BL710 (+25kohms output) in my Sho bud. and I guess this little guy will make it possible to use stompboxes and such? C
Could some quick explain exactly how these matchboxes work? It not just a volume pot is it? It's active isnt it?
My current setup is Sho Bud Pro 1 w/BL710 - Goodrich L120 - Fender Vibroverb clone.

| Ok. Doesn't it also make the "hot" psg signal more regular guitaramp and stompbox-friendly ohmswise? Is it just an advanced Eq? |

I have one somewhere and I've taken it apart to check it out. It's a very simple opamp based buffer amp that 'matches' PU impedance to avoid the tone change that can occur with improper loading. As Sonny says, by moving the pot you change the basic tonality. It's been a while since I looked at it but if I remember right the pot adjusts the box's input impedance. It is essentially unity gain, providing just impedance matching, not a boost, and it is very similar to the buffer circuit in the Goodrich H10K and L10K pedals, although the pedals lack the 'tone' pot. Like those pedals, if unplugged when not in use, the battery life is easily a year or better in my experience.
I like the way the Goodrich buffer circuit works and I've been using the L10K pedals for a long time. They work great.
