Can’t make it to the convention this year

Post by Roy Ayres »

Laurie and I live with our daughter, Tammy, and her Naval Officer husband, Tim. Tim is being shipped out to the twin wars this month for another six-month tour. We will have to stick around here to watch over the grandkids (boy 3 and girl 5), as Tammy works full time as an RN at Tampa General.

We had already reserved rooms at the Millennium and paid for our airline tickets, and we are disappointed, but family comes first. We will miss seeing all of our friends and listening to my idols playing all of that great steel.

I will lock my computer into “Steel Radio” and listen to as much of the show as possible.

Say a little prayer that Tim will be returned to us safely.

Roy, sorry to hear that we will not get to see, or hear, you this year.
Being retired Navy I completely understand. My Son-in-Law is deployed presently and will return from his last cruise in a few months. He's decided to join me in the USN-retired status.
Take care.

Thanks, guys. Although Tim is in the Navy, his duty assignment is on the ground; not aboard ship. While his work is classified, I do know that he does some kind of training and is in harm's way. On his last tour there, he was in near-death situations twice. We worry about him a lot. Fortunately, he can correspond with us occasionally via computer. We appreciate your concern.
