I've seen in print and on the web that silent film star Mary Pickford requested having Sol Ho'opi'i play live on the film set to help get her in the proper mood for crying scenes.
Does anyone know of a reliable source for this tale or is it just a steel guitar legend with no basis in fact? |

Well, I don't know much about that, Andy. I can tell you this, however: if she had heard ME playing steel on the film set before her crying scene, she'd win an Oscar for that scene, so great would be her pain and anquish!
I can make my dog Milo cry with my playing. Does that count?

I can definitely relate, Todd.
My old dog, Rio, would walk from the other room, sit next to amp and howl along ... awwwoooooo.
Rumba, my current puppy, just gives me a vague, world weary look whenever I crank up the amp. |
