I'm On MySpace!

Post by b0b »

On vacation this week, so I had some time to play with MySpace. I created a page with songs from Quasar Steel Guitar and a couple of others:

Very tasteful playing in all categories. Now that's steel guitar music.

I sure like 'Alvas Occidental Melody'. I've been curious about the history of it. Very nice steel on all the songs. Glad you posted them.

I had a steady Friday night gig at the Union Hotel in Occidental, CA, for a few years. One regular was a charming old woman named Alva. She grew up in Occidental - she'd say things like "things just aren't the same since they paved the road". :)

Anyway, I had been playing around with those chords and Alva said "That's real pretty. You should make a song out of that." I did and I taught it to the band. It took a few iterations of the chart before I realized that the diminished chords were actually 7b9 chords. Once I made that discovery the bass part fell into place nicely. The band at the Union Hotel was a trio - piano, bass and steel. I added guitar and drums when we went into the studio with it.

It's all on E9th, by the way. The guitar was an S-12 Sierra Crown with 4+5. I don't play the bottom two strings on this song, but I did use the 4th pedal to raise G# to A# at one point in the bridge. I can't do it exactly like that anymore as I no longer have that pedal.

Thanks for asking, Howard.

I've added a SnoCap store for people who like to buy music downloads. I've never tried this before. It wasn't too hard to set up. I hope it works!!

I liked them all as well. If I had to pick one I liked, it would be Sagebrush Shuffle, but they were all great.

b0b....nice website.Only thing I have to warn you for is "SnoCap".They are fake as can be.
You have absolutely no control....none whatsoever. They can tell you you have not sold any of your copy's and it is up to you to proof them wrong.
To make things short.....don't do it.

Seems to me that it would be pretty easy to prove if they were cheating. A lot of people are using SNOCAP. They take 39 cents per song, which is pretty high. With a margin like that, I think they'd be able to do it legit.

Here's a question for everyone:

Have any of you bought any of my songs via SNOCAP from my MySpace page?

Right now SNOCAP is claiming that I have zero sales. If someone here bought a song, then we'll know that they are crooks.

b0b, go ahead and buy a download yourself, then you'll know if they report it to you as sold or not.

Nice page, by the way. Enjoyed the photos and sounds.

From what I understand when I signed up Karen is that any sales above $20 will be listed.Anything below that price will not.I have no idea about time frames etc etc.
MHO of it all is that "SnoCap" is a big ripoff.Period.

My guess is that they handle all the sales per month. If you don't come over $20 a month you will lose all the money that they did make on you.
I've checked out their on-line contract but could not find anything.

Ron

p.s

btw...b0b....when is your next visit to Jeanette(Greensburg)?Didn't have time to meet ya last year but will definitely make time when you come.
