Mike is a highly under rated very talented steel player.
Mike played steel for Stan Hitchcock on the Branson strip for years.
He lives around the Springfield Missouri area and is a computer tech by trade.
Mike is Vice president of the Ozark Steel Guitar Association (OSGA) in Branson as well.
Mike is one of my very best friends. :D

I first met Mike back in the 70's when he was a student at the University of Missouri-Columbia. He lives near Dadeville, MO. I know he has at least two Zums, one of which is a beautiful red lacquer D-10 once owned by John Hughey. He also has an Emmons push/pull. I think most of his playing has been in the Springfield/Branson area and includes a stint at the Roy Clark theater and a stint with Stan Hitchcock. On top of being a good player, he is a very nice person and I consider it an honor to be one of his friends.
For more info you can e-mail Mike or call Fred Justice. :D :D

Fred, once again many thanks, also, Jerry and, Dan for the info on Mike, he blew me away with his version of, The Lords Prayer, and now he has a cd, It's a must have.
I have so got to learn his version of that tune.
They say you should not copy any one, but play your own style, but not this tune, if I could play that in church the way he does, it would make it all worth while, once again guy's,thank you,Slim.

Oh man Derrick, is that not about the most beautiful version of that song you've ever heard?
There is nothing wrong with wanting to play that tune note for note the way Mike did it.
Derrick, I don't sit still for very long at a time, but I sit down one day and learned about a 1/4 of that arrangement and I'll tell you, its no walk in the park, for sure. Those tabernacle voices in the back ground are nice too.
Oh ya, another one of Mikey's talents. He does all of his own recording, at his own recording studio as well. :D :D

Mike is a super nice person, great steeler and a fine guitar player too. If he lived close to me I'd pester him all the time for tips and licks. I think he's been very busy in his studio lately.

Sheesh... I turn my back for a few minutes, and look at the mess you guys have made! Telling Slim all those lies about me!!! :>) Now, you pups get back on your paper and behave!

I'm so blessed to have such great friends. You humble me so much with your kind words, and I have nothing to give you that expresses my appreciation for that friendship. All I can say is thanks from the bottom of my heart.

Slim and I have communicated by private email, and today is a GREAT day because I have made a new friend. Thank you, Slim!

May God bless all of you and the music you play.

Mike will be playing on our July Super Show 2 in Branson MO. He also teaches at our open jams we have ever other month. Another song I think he does that is GREAT is called "From Noon Till Three". The name of the CD is All LOADED UP.

Mike McGee, what a player, as good as they come. One of the un-sung hero's of the steel guitar community.
More so a gentleman whom I'm privileged to call my friend.

Hi guys, got Mike's cd,All loaded up and no place to play.
Wow,can he play, the tracks are brilliant, and also the backing tracks for the album, have I got some practice coming up.
If you don't have the cd, get it, it's such a treat to find someone who can play like this, but has been tucked away out of my sight, what a find, and again, thanks to all you guys for all the info on Mike.
I now have another good friend to add to the list, all of you included.
By the way, have a new steel, well new to me, a Sho-Bud Super Pro, so am eager to start practice, sounds good throu the session 400.Slim.

I bought one of Mike's CD's, and it quickly made the very short list of CD's that are kept in my van to listen to as I go to gigs. Mike is awsome!

How do we get one of Mike's CD's? I would like to have one, though I've never heard Mike, but it sounds like a good CD. Thanks, Leon

Leon, thanks for the inquiry. b0b may have a few left, so if you can order from him, you support both me and the forum. I took care of Derrick's order since the postage is quite a bit higher across the pond.

If b0b is out of them, I can get one to you.
