| I recently replaced the pickups on a G&L Legacy Special 6-string with Kinmans and was astonished at the improvement in the guitar. (Granted the stock G&L pickups, using ceramic magnets, are not that good). So, I was wondering if there is any point in investigating a replacement pickup for my Emmons Lashley LeGrande (SD 10, c. 1990). I'm reasonably happy with the sound I'm getting but I can't help wondering if I'm missing something! |

| I have the same guitar (1993)and I have replaced the dualcoil pickup with a Bill Lawrence BL-710 and I am very pleased with the sound. |

| I did the same and replaced my single coils on my D-10 1999 LeGrande II with the BL-710 and also like them and it still has the classic Emmons tone. |

| Another vote for the BL710's. I have them in two of my Legrandes and in an MSA Classic and they are hard to beat. |

| Thanks for the replies guys. Is the BL-710 inclined to be a little sharp sounding? Has anyone put George L pickups on a LeGrande? |

I had a LeGrande II that I put a George L PF-II in. It enhanced the low end a little, but it still gave me the Emmons single-coil tone which is what I like.

I've been altering between a TrueTone, a PF II and the original Emmons SC in my LeGrande.
The TT has a very nice fat tone with rich and clear mids.
The original PU has a slightly hollow sound with a little less lows. Sounds very "Emmonsy". I guess that a E-66 would not sound very different from it.
The PF II is somewhere between the others, not very far from the TT, but it's hum-free with good sustain and i use it most of the time.
I tried a BL 710 once but didn't like it. Sounded harsh. Since then i've learned the importance of hight adjustment on the Bill Lawrence pickups and i think it was set way too close to the strings.
