Steeler For Texas Sapphires?

Post by Roger Shackelton »

I found this video of the Texas Sapphires, but had never heard of them. I don't know how old the video is, but the steel player is playing an older MSA psg

I searched in YouTube for Texas Sapphires and found several videos. Pretty good band and a good young steeler. Don't know who he is but he has a bunch of stickers on the front apron. The tele player has a piece of duct tape where the strap goes on. Cool.

From their website:

Honorary Texas Sapphires
Bobby Daniel on Bass
Jeff Joiner on Bass
Scott Matthews on Drums
Justin Kolb on Bass
Nathan Fleming on Pedal Steel
Kim Deschamps on Steel and Dobro

On the youtube song where they sing about barstools, he calls him brother Nate. So I am assuming that if this or any other video has the steel with stickers it is Nate Fleming.

Interesting fact: Both lead singers came from punk backgrounds.

Edit: otherwise it is Bob “Slim Bawb” Pearce

The youngster's name is Nathan Fleming. I caught them in Austin one night. He also plays, bass, harmonica, dobro, and banjo (oops). It's a good band and they write decent music, and present it well.
