STIRRING UP THE ASHES?

Post by Roger Shackelton »

Here is a small sample of Hank Thompson's "STIRRING UP THE ASHES." from about 1964, but doesn't contain Curly Chalker's solo.
Can someone post a copy of the complete tune?

Hi Jim,

Thanks for the fix.

Curly really sounds great on that Fender 2000 PSG. 8)

I bought my copy in '63 when Curly was still playing the Fender 1000. This was about the same time Curly played on Roy clark's first instrumental album. Curly got a great sound out of the 1000 but it didn't have the low end tone that the 2000 had when he started playing it in '64. The reverb at Capitol added a lot of body to the 1000 but the pickups on the 400 and 1000 were pretty thin. The 2000 had better pickups as evidenced on the "Big Hits On Big Steel" project Curly was doing a lot of sessions in '63 for Capitol artists, like Ferlin Huskey, Charlie Louvin, Wanda Jackson and others.
