Bluegrass meets Scottish Folk on - You Tube

Post by James Kerr »

Here is "Will ye go Lassie go" played with a bit of Bluegrass style.

Buddy Emmons covered this song many years ago under a different title, played it a little different too.

I have the Buddy Emmons version " wild mountain thyme" from Scottys Mel Bay instruction book, played Acapello, there are so many ways of getting the same tune out of this amazing instrument its great to see all the different approaches on youtube.
I didnt know it was a traditional Scottish tune though.

Alan,
Here is a link to the original words of the song, a song of love among the Heather and Wild mountain thyme.

I agree its good to see all the different approaches to playing this song, I always try to bring something new to a performance and try not copy others.
