Sho Bud Volume pedal problem.

Post by Frode Bjoernstad »

Does this look right to you guys? My Sho Bud volume pedal works great for a set or two or so, but usually start to slip after that and after a while the volume at full action gets lower and lower after each step forward. I have to carry a backup volume pedal at gigs. Is there any idiotproof ways to set these old pedals up?

Frode,

Having just restrung my Goodrich pedal, which is pretty much the same layout, I'd suggest consulting this diagram:

http://www.scottysmusic.com/goodrichstring.htm

Looks from this like you should not wrap the string around the barrel on the left before it goes around the set screw: bring it straight to the set screw, then twice around the right end of the barrel.

Hope that helps,

Dan

Are you using monofilament fishing line?

Braided polyester cord (like a round shoestring) works far better, and is not inclined to slip like the solid plastic you're using. Remember to wax it to make it last longer.
