Hacienda Brothers/Chris Gaffney
Anyone heard of this band? I believe they're from Tuscon, AZ. What a cool mix of country and soul music!
Mostly wondering who the steel player is.

The steel player is David Berzansky, great player and a nice guy also, he posts here some.
What a great band, tunes, chops, they have it all, as you can gather from the youtube vid.
Unfortunately, Chris Gaffney passed away a couple months ago due to liver cancer, you can search the forum for more info or haciendabrothers.com

Billy, I also heard they were going to tour in support of the album and as a tribute to Gaff, but there are no dates currently on the website, and it seems like a few weeks back there were some dates listed.
Tony, the Hacienda Bros became one of my very favorite bands over the past few years. I've seen them live four times.
DB is a fine steeler, and a heckuva nice guy as well.
Dave, if you are reading this, maybe you can chime in and tell us what's going on with you guys getting back out on the road?

Here's a nice one with Chris Gaffney (R.I.P.) and some really nice steel backup by David Berzansky.

They were here in Kansas City back in October.

I played at a festival last summer out side of Portland, OR with The Haciendas. Ditto on what you guys said. Great band and truly sad that Chris is gone. It won't be the same without him, but I hope they keep it going. And yes they were all real nice guys. Got to hang out with them after the show in the hospitality tent and they were great guys.

I talked to Hank, the bass player from HB the other day and says that he and Dave Gonzales may do some Northern Ca show with Dave Alvin sitting in and pick up some other pickers. Sounds like Berzansky and Dale the drummer are taking time off the road.
Those guys are all top gun players. RIP Chris.

They shoulda won something on CMA, just goes to show some of what the country is being robbed of hearing by the big labels....I think they could be as big, and I know they are marketable enough for the whole country and international. I have never heard anyone listen to their CDs and not like them.
