| In 1952 and '53, Chet Atkins and Jerry Byrd had a regular radio broadcast called "Two Guitars." Anyone know if recordings of those shows exist? I'd sure like to hear 'em. |

Go to WSM Online, there will be an e mail address for Eddie Stubbs. Try that. He regularly plays
stuff from the WSM archives that old and older on his "Way Back Wednesday" broadcast, which incidentally, you can listen to online.

That would be a real treat for those of us that never ever got to hear even a single broadcast of that show.
And what about Bobby Lord's Show?
Any idea if the olde OPRY in the barn (Gaylord) shows are still available?
I seemed never to have the money when they were promoted here on local TV. |

Maybe this belongs in Stories, but it is related to this thread. While I was in high school (that wasn't yesterday, folks) a friend and I took my Dad's
car and went to Nashvile. We went to the WSM studio
to see Jerry and Chet do this show. It was pretty
loose, they just got there a few minutes before
air time with Ray Edington and Lightin' Chance and
said "What do you want to do?" I asked them to do
"Limehouse Blues", and they just lit into it like
they had rehearsed it for hours. It goes without
saying, this was two absolute masters at work and it
didn't even look like work.

I talked with Jerry about a week before he passed. He was full of stories and I just let him talk. Wish I could have recorded that phone call. He told me the "Two Guitars" was never recorded, but he wished they would have looking back. They played mostly old standards not country. The guitarist in nashville at the time that knew all those old tunes was Billy Byrd and they hired him to play rhythm guitar. Jerry said how much he loved working with Chet and Hank Garland. What a player Jerry was and a great person as well. Another steel player who could keep you laughing for hours. Rest in peace dear friend. I miss Jerry so much. Bobby
